The Remarkable Journey

Still enjoying my day off with Gary Zukav in my hands. Gary Zukav is no doubt one of my favorite authers. He has never failed to amaze me with his elegance and yet powerful words he wrote in his bestseller, The Seat Of The Soul (1989). This book describes the remarkable journey to the spirit that each of us is on.

Reverence is an attitude of honoring Life. You do not have to be authentically empowered to be gentle with Life or to love Life. There are many people who are not authentically empowered but who are quite revenrent. They would harm nothing. Often it is the case that they are the most compassionate and the most loving people because they have sufferd so much.

In this book Zukav explains that we are evolving from a species that pursues power based upon the perceptions of the five senses – external power – into a species that pursues authentic power, – power that is based upon the perceptions and values of the spirit.

Zukav also shows how the pursuit of external power has produced our survival-of-the-fittest understanding of evolution, generated conflict between lovers, communities, and superpowers, and brought us to the edge of destruction.
