It is Sinterklaas! It is one of so many fun traditions that is very difficult to be ignored. But to be very honest, I am too old for celebrating Sinterklaas. And having my sister who is now being hospitalized has made me absolutely not in the mood for any celebration at all.
But my little nieces and nephews have been looking forward to celebrating this day for the whole year. This day is a special day for them to be shamelessly pampered and spoiled with gifts and Sinterklaas-poems. Yeah, I am their Sinterklaas, not that white-bearded guy with his Zwarte Piet (= Black Pete).
Like last year (and years before that) I haven’t got enough time to buy some gifts for them days before the Sinterklaas. Lucky me, they gave me their wish list about a week ago so, they know exactly what they want, which makes my gift shopping a lot easier. These are some of things that they’ve mentioned in their wish lists.
I need to do some serious gift shopping, now! Happy Sinterklaas to all!
